Yankee fans: Why didn't the Yankees resign Kerry Wood?

Well it probably wasn`t a money issue considering its the Yankees, and with off season targets and free agents, including the Jeter issue,(his resigning) the Yankees probably weren`t to concerned about him, I mean they have Soriano, and Mariano, they didn`t feel that he was a priority, and they didn`t act quick enough.
