Why lebanese people consider themselves french and like the french so much?

why lebanese people like french so much and even think they are french? france colonized lebanon years ago, so lebanese should hate them for that not worship them, right, i mean common sense? they treat lebanese people very bad too. a friend of my mine is lebanese, he has relatives in france, him and his family wanted to visit them in france but was denied for visa him and all his family in lebanon. but when his relatives in france asked them to send them a special kind of dog from lebanon, dog got the documents that he don't have diseases or anything, and then was smoothly transported to france and living happily there with the french dogs. i was like wow they treat dogs better than they treat you all ! he also told me that if lebanese are transiting flights in paris they don't allow them to even leave the airport, they must sleep overnight on the airport floor ! pretty humiliating , don't understand why they like them and copy them so much?
