Help! We have had three cute fox cubs playing at the back of our house in the fields. Yesterday I heard gun?

shots at the farm, and today the fox cubs are nowhere to be seen, and yet we had been seeing all three of them every day of the last week. They were so adorable and were even playing with our cat. I am so upset. Isn't it illegal to kill foxes?
