Has anyone been to Holly Beach before?

We live at Fort Polk, and my husband and his friend want to go to Holly Beach this weekend. My husband wants the kids and I go to with him (2&4 years old) but I can't really find any information about it. If it is not a "family friendly" beach or if it is not a beach where I can let my kids play freely, I don't think we will go. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
