Does AWG really make a difference in sound quality?

I am going to be running speaker wire to my new 5.1 system. The speaker wire is going to run 20-30 ft. max from the receiver to speaker. I was planning on using 16AWG, but i was curious if it would make a difference if i used 12 or 14. I have a Sony receiver, a CS10 Polk Center Channel, Sony B-3000 L/R, and Sony B-1000 surrounds.
