How is living near Fort Polk in Louisiana?

I'm civilian and thinking of transfering to work at Fort Polk. I'm from a small town in Alabama and currently live in a remote location in Alaska, so living in a small town is okay with me. As long as I don't mind the hot weather and country atmosphere, how is the area? Where is a good place to live?
